Greetings, all! As we forge ahead into 2025, I hope your year has begun with hope and strength as we face an anxiously anticipated future together on this eve of the latest presidential inauguration.

Kwanzaa ended the week I left for Senegal and I was honored to accept another invitation from Third Unitarian Church of Chicago to design and co-lead a Kwanzaa service for their community on Ujaama Sunday. The link I’m sharing with you will take you to a YouTube video; you can also listen to it via SoundCloud from Third Unitarian Church‘s website.

During the recording you will hear me honoring ancestors that transitioned this year (Ella Jenkins, Faith Ringgold, Nicki Giovanni and Quincy Jones to name a few), aligning their legacies to the Nguzo Saba – the seven principles of Kwanzaa. I hope you enjoy and take meaning from it.

In the spirit of care and protection,

Atena
